New Delhi, April 17 -- US President Donald Trump's policy changes, including on tariffs, have not been witnessed in modern history, impacting the actions of Federal Reserve, Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday.

"These are very fundamental policy changes. There isn't a modern experience of how to think about this," Powell said at an event by the Economic Club of Chicago.

"The level of the tariff increases announced so far is significantly larger than anticipated," Powell said.

"We may find ourselves in the challenging scenario in which our dual-mandate goals are in tension," he added.
