New Delhi, March 26 -- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday revealed that conducting an election in India requires 10,50,000 booths and 1,00,000 booth-level officers.
Gyanesh Kumar was present at the inauguration of the first training session for booth-level officers, organised by the Election Commission at the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi.
"India's election is the biggest in the world. To conduct this election, the Election Commission sets up 10,50,000 booths," he said, adding that at every polling booth, a booth-level officer assists in preparing the electoral roll and visits households to verify names.
