India, April 16 -- Some chapters of the NCERT history textbooks have been removed as a part of curriculum rationalization and reduction of cognitive load on students as desired by the MHRD. The rationale is that certain chapters promoted casteism, colonialism and capitalism.

Since 2016, on the basis of a CBSE circular, the chapters remained in the textbooks but were not taught. However, from the new textbooks such chapters have been removed.
