TURA, Oct. 9 -- The annual Durga Puja celebrations in the town of Tura ended on Tuesday amidst pouring rains which while putting a dampener on proceedings, still could not take out the festive spirit as residents bid farewell to Goddess Durga.Puja festivities are set to resume once again on Thursday with the much awaited annual 'Dhak Competition' taking place at the Tura Parade Ground. Thousands from across Garo Hills are expected to throng the site.

Rains, which were a part of the itinerary over, continued for some time with devotees scurrying for cover when the rains poured. The pomp was back and so were the crowds once the rains relented. The immersion procession was watched by thousands of devotees despite the rains.
