Srinagar, Sept. 24 -- There is a need of creating a Raw Material Bank in Kashmir to facilitate easy procurement which can aid the artisans and weavers of the valley, said Director Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah on Friday.

Addressing the buyer-seller meet organised by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) Ltd in collaboration with the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom (DHH), Shah said "the department has registered 2500 cooperatives alone in the last year which have been provided with financial assistance of Rs 15 crore. The Department has been facilitating the promotion of GI to help recognize and promote age-old crafts."
