New Delhi, Sept. 24 -- The Textile Ministry has announced the extension of mandatory Jute packaging deadline till December 30, 2022.

Earlier the deadline was set for September 30, 2022.

In case of food grains use of 100 per cent jute is mandatory and for sugar it is 20 per cent.

In June last year, the Ministry of Textile has mandated jute bag through a notification, which has been now extended to December 2022.

The decision to extend mandatory jute packaging deadline is likely to stocks like Gloster, Cheviot and Ludlow Jute, all listed companies.

In May 2022 the government had also done away with price cap on jute which is expected go on a long way to help farmers, mills and Jute MSMEs.
