Begusarai, May 23 -- Giriraj Singh, the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) in the previous BJP government regime, is leading in Bihars Begusarai leaving behind Communist Party of Indias (CPIs) candidate Kanhaiya Kumar.

Kanhaiya Kumar, who contested the 17th Lok Sabha elections from the Begusarai parliamentary constituency, has been in the news ever since the controversy broke at JNU campus in 2016. He was fighting elections in a three-way contest with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)s Tanveer Hassan and BJP's Giriraj Singh.

Kumar was fielded from his hometown Begusarai, which is often referred to as the Leningrad of India.
