Afghanistan, July 9 -- The 1,484,900 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine donated by United States arrived in Kabul and was handed to the Ministry of Public Health today.

The amount of jabs is part of larger donation of 3.3 million doses pledged by US to Afghanistan and rest of the doses of vaccine will be donated in second consignment.

US embassy based in Kabul in a statement said that the vaccine was donated through COVAX program-UN backed initiative to distribute corona vaccine in poorer countries. The statement reads that the donation implies US continued support and assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
