Afghanistan, June 26 -- The NATO-led Resolute Support Mission confirmed that two American soldiers were killed in Afghanistan earlier today.

The alliance in a statement said "Two U.S. service members were killed in Afghanistan on June 26."

The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident.

Meanwhile, the statement said "In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete."

This comes as a car bomb explosion outside Bagram Airfield killed thre American soldiers nearly two months ago.
