Afghanistan, Dec. 25 -- The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi issued a brief statement via Twitter after a statement by President Ghani created confusions regarding the preliminary election results which the election commission of Afghanistan announced earlier this week.
"My dear friend and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, called this afternoon to congratulate me on winning the preliminary results and the Afghan people on the successful presidential elections," President Ghani said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.
The ARG Presidential Palace also issued a statement stating that Prime Minister of India has congratulated Ghani for securing lead in preliminary election results.
