Afghanistan, Feb. 26 -- The Municipality of Olbia has formally proposed renaming its airport to honor Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the late spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community, who passed away on February 4, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal, at the age of 88. The proposal, submitted to Italian authorities, suggests renaming the airport to "Olbia-Costa Smeralda-Prince Karim Aga Khan IV Airport", recognizing his pivotal contributions to the development of Sardinia, particularly in transforming the Costa Smeralda into a world-renowned tourism destination.
