Middle East, Oct. 27 -- The U.S. Special Forces conducted an operation in North-west Syria against ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, it has been reported.

A senior U.S. defense official has told media outlets in U.S. that the Special Forces have likely killed al-Baghdadi during the raid on Saturday.

However, the official said final confirmation is pending as DNA and biometric testing is being conducted.

The official further added it appears al-Baghdadi detonated a suicide bombing vest during the raid which the Special Forces conducted based on CIA tip off.

The ISIS terrorist group has not commented in this regard so far.
