Afghanistan, Oct. 21 -- Afghan spin sensation Rashid Khan was the first player to be picked among overseas players in Sunday's inaugural 'The Hundred' draft.

The Trent Rockets picked Rashid Khan for £125,000. He will play alongside Joe Root Test captain of the England cricket team.

Describing Khan as one of the best players in the world, Root said "It's going to be great to have Rashid join us at Trent Bridge next summer."

Root further added "I've played against him and I know he's a fierce competitor and one of the best players in the world."

In total 96 players were selected in the first major player draft in British sport, with 474 going unsold, according to BBC.
