Srinagar, May 29 -- Police on Monday said it has arrested seven drug peddlers in Baramulla, Shopian and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

At Khaitangan in Baramulla, police arrested a "wanted drug smuggler" Shabir Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Nabi Rather of Khaitangan and recovered 410 grams of cannabis-like substance from his possession.

Another "wanted drug peddler" Shoaib Aijaz Goru, son of Aijaz Ahmad Goru, resident of Kanispora was held at a checkpoint at Kanispora after police intercepted his vehicle (HR26BF-0973), and recovered 16 grams of brown sugar-like substance from his possession.
