New Delhi, March 24 -- Reacting to the nomination of Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the former Chief Justice of India (CJI), to the Rajya Sabha, AP Shah, a retired High Court Judge, called it "a death knell for the separation of powers and independence of judiciary". He also said that it sends a message to the judiciary as a whole that judgements favourable to the executive will be rewarded and the judges who deliver unfavourable judgements would be transferred or would not be considered for elevation.
