New Delhi, Jan. 14 -- Ina first such move, the Kerala government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court as it challenged the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) passed by the Centre last year.

The plea was filed by the state government as an original suit under Article 131 of the Constitution which empowers Supreme Court to hear disputes between government of India and one or more states.The petition has stated that the CAA, which had triggered massive protests across the country since last year, violates right to equality under Article 14 of the Constitution of India, right to life under Article 21 and freedom to practice religion under Article 25.Kerala had earlier moved a resolution against the CAA in its assembly.Several Chief Ministers of t...
