Mumbai, April 3 -- The rupee on Friday tumbled down by 40 paise to 75.95 in the opening session on brisk demand for US dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the forex market said.

The local unit recorded intraday high and low at 76.08 and 75.90, respectively.The domestic unit was seen weak owing to the firm dollar against other world currencies amid sliding equity market, dealer added.
