Raipur, June 13 -- The Chhattisgarh government will waive loans of farmers who were not covered under loan waiver scheme earlier. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of state cabinet, chaired by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

However, only half of the loans of such farmers would be waived.

State government has waived off short term agriculture loans obtained by the farmers from co-operative or regional rural banks or public sector commercial banks. But non-performing accounts of the farmers would not get benefit of this loan waiver scheme.

The state cabinet has decided to provide benefit of loan waiver through one time settlement to non-performing accounts that were not covered under loan waiver scheme.
