Manipur, Nov. 15 -- Governor Najma Heptulla has called on the people on the need of awareness campaign for regular health check-up to fight cancer, and said people can survive cancer and the diagnosis of the dreadful disease does not necessarily lead to death.

"I strongly believe that awareness campaign for regular health check-up should remain central to any efforts for countering this disease," the governor said in her address to the people at the 14th Annual Conference of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India-NE Chapter.

The conference was inaugurated by the governor on Friday at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal, and is co-hosted by the Oncology Society and American Oncology Institute at Babina Speciality hospital.
