Manipur, May 15 -- A man reportedly stabbed his own mother to death at Sangaiprou Kabui Khul under Lamphel Police station, Imphal West on Tuesday around 7.40 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Kamei Madhu, 65, wife of (L) Ganesh Dash of Assam, presently residing at Sangaiprou.

The perpetrator, identified as Sanjiv Das, 25, the son of the deceased, has been apprehended by a team from Lamphel Police Station, following the fatal stabbing.

Authorities also recovered the knife believed to have been used in the heinous act.

The body has been kept at RIMS mortuary after a team of State Forensic Science Laboratory investigated the crime scene.
