Manipur, June 28 -- Concerning the allegations that biomedical wastes are being burned at an open area of JNIMS hospital, the hospital authorities on Sunday clarified that the incinerator plant of the hospital is functioning well.

In JNIMS Hospital, there are 150 dedicated COVID beds with bed occupancy of 140 to 150 per day, said a statement.

All the daily wastes generated from COVID Wards like PPE, caps, face cover, shoe cover, gloves, N95 face mask, etc. are treated with sodium hypochlorite solution and then collected in double layer polythene bags and then burnt in the incinerator plant, it said.
