IMPHAL, April 5 -- Veteran politician and former chief minister of Manipur, Radhabinod Koijam, on Thursday, quit BJP stating that he will take leave from electoral and party politics.

Radhabinod Koijam was one of the 16 intending candidates who joined the race for BJP ticket for inner parliamentary constituency Manipur seat.

He had even started election campaign since October 2017 but was dropped out of the race.

Although the veteran politicians said that he not entirely retiring from politics, he has no immediate plan of joining other parties.

"I will try to ease myself out of party politics and electoral politics and gradually retire thereafter", he said speaking to media persons at his Thangmeiband residence.
