Manipur, Jan. 20 -- The three-day long Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) Programme was launched on Sunday at the premises of directorate of Family Welfare office, Imphal.

Director of Family Welfare, K Rajo speaking to the media at the launching programme of the IPPI said the programme will cover a total of 3, 14,286 beneficiaries who are under five years.

There will be 3,205 booths all over the state with 12,820 vaccinators and 641 supervisors, he added.

Although the country was declared polio free on March 27, 2014, the polio immunisation programme was taken up as a preventive measure to thwart any possible return of the disease through contact with infected persons of the neighbouring countries where polio is endemic, Rajo ...
