Manipur, June 26 -- The International human rights association (IHRA) has requested the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for de-recognition and to withdraw the funding of Maharaja Chandrakirti Singh's memorial park under construction at Chivu in Churachandpur district.

A letter written by IHRA (Manipur State) president Mark Thangmang Haokip to the director-general of ASI stated that the said park has been constructed by distorting the history through political manipulation in order to grab the 'Kuki ancestral land', and it is a disastrous move which will endanger the life of the indigenous Kuki. The Manipur government has gravely violated the indigenous human rights, it said.
