Pakistan, Sept. 24 -- The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has banned the sale of 103 brands of cooking oil and ghee in Pakistan, terming these harmful for consumption. 47 of these failed on safety parameters whereas the remaining 56 failed to meet quality standards.

68,120 kilograms of such oils and ghee have been confiscated from the market and the watchdog has directed to ban the production and distribution until they don't conform to the health standards.

PFA Director General, Muhammad Usman said on the occasion that no compromise will be made on quality and that the defaulters will remain banned until further notice.
