cm gupta: delhi will not face any flooding this monsoon
New Delhi, June 12 -- Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday assured citizens that Delhi will not face severe flooding this monsoon, adding that the government this year is better prepared than ever to check flooding. Her statement came after chairing the apex committee on flood control at the Delhi Secretariat, where the Flood Control Order 2025 was officially issued.
"Delhi is fully prepared for any situation. Last year's flood was catastrophic because the previous governments neglected this issue and didn't even convene this committee," Gupta said, referring to the Yamuna rising to a record 208.6 metres in July 2023, which inundated several neighbourhoods. She said massive desilting work had been carried out, removing 2 million metric tonnes of silt. Desilting of MCD and PWD drains is reportedly 80-90% complete....
