New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- The first high-frequency economic indicator released in October has brought good news on the economic front. The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for manufacturing clocked a value of 56.8 in September. This is the highest reading in over eight-and-a-half years, according to IHS Markit, the agency that conducts the survey. September is the second consecutive month PMI manufacturing has been above the neutral threshold of 50. The revival in August and September is in keeping with an improvement in the Nomura India Business Resumption Index (NIBRI) during the period.
