Bhubaneswar, Aug. 11 -- The ex-boyfriend of a 19-year-old woman, who died after she allegedly set herself on fire last week in Kendrapara district of Odisha amid allegations of police inaction on her complaint of blackmail, has been arrested, officials aware of the matter said on Saturday. Kendrapara superintendent of police (SP) Siddhartha Katari said the 25-year-old accused had been blackmailing her using obscene photos and videos. "On July 17, the accused reportedly sent an obscene video to the victim's father. On the same day, he also forwarded the video to 4-5 other individuals. At 7.34am on August 6, he made a phone call from his mobile to the victim," the SP said. "He had also sent WhatsApp messages to the victim on the incident day. We found around 60 obscene videos from the accused's phone." The woman allegedly set herself ablaze after pouring kerosene on her in their house on August 6. She later succumbed to severe burn injuries. The accused was detained in Chennai on August 8 and brought to Kendrapara. He was arrested under sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 108 (abetment of suicide) among other relevant sections of BNS....
