India, Aug. 31 -- The dating scene is full of assumptions, like women being too picky on dating apps. However, a study by PLOS One has revealed a surprising truth: men set higher standards while women tend to accept matches closer to their own level.
The researchers examined almost 3,000 heterosexual users on a Czech dating app. The findings revealed that men pursue women more desirable than themselves, setting very high standards. Women, on the other hand, sought matches with men of similar attractiveness and are sometimes more flexible, choosing partners less popular or attractive than themselves.
Men often blame women for rejecting them, but the real issue is that men tend to aim too high and are unrealistic. The study shows that when men pursue women who are more popular or attractive than themselves, rejection rates rise. Successful matches usually occur when both partners have similar levels of appeal or attractiveness.
