NEW DELHI, March 20 -- Holi is the festival of colour, happiness and yummilicious gujiyas. However, some rogues create trouble and think they might get away by saying, 'bura na mano Holi hai'. "Last year, I was scared to step out of the house on Holi because I had heard that some losers were getting all fresh in the name of Holi," says Neha, a Delhi University (DU) student. But this year, Neha and others needn't fear, for Delhi Police are working towards ensuring a safe environment for all. From stationing cops outside girls' schools and colleges, to increasing bike patrolling, they are out to make sure this Holi is coloured only with gulal and not bad experiences. We went around to check these claims and found students at ease: Outside Maitreyi College, we ran into Pooja and Priyanka, who were there to collect their degree. We asked them if they felt any difference from the time they were in college. "I graduated two years ago, and there used to be quite a few hooligans. Boys rode on bikes and as soon as they saw girls, they threw colours at us and ran away. There used to be no police presence at all. But today, there is a PCR van, over 10 bikes patrolling the area and cops in front of the college. We not only feel secure but also empowered, since all the cops are women," says Pooja....
