India, Dec. 3 -- If the change in season has led to your hair falling out, you're not alone. Many people, regardless of age or gender, struggle with hair thinning or loss. It can be discouraging to try countless shampoos and treatments without seeing real results. But what if there were a simpler, more natural way to support your hair from the inside out? Seed cycling has recently gained attention for its potential to help balance hormones and support hair health. Seed cycling involves eating specific seeds during different phases of one's menstrual cycle. Here's how they are typically consumed: Follicular phase (days 1-14): In the first half of the cycle, flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds are consumed. "Aim for 1-2 tablespoons of each daily to help balance estrogen levels," says Dr. Rinky Kapoor, cosmetic dermatologist and dermato-surgeon. Luteal phase (days 15-28): In the second half of the cycle, people use chia seeds and sunflower seeds. Aim for 1-2 tablespoons of each. "These seeds help balance progesterone levels, which are important for hair growth," says Dr Rinky. Here are the five main seeds used in seed cycling, along with their benefits: High in zinc, pumpkin seeds help strengthen hair and prevent thinning. "Zinc helps keep hair moisturised and supports the production of new cells," says Dr Kapoor. Without enough zinc, hair can become brittle and fall out. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, they can help address scalp issues such as dandruff, which may worsen hair loss. "Omega-3s help keep your scalp healthy by reducing inflammation," says Dr Rinky. These help stabilise blood sugar levels, which can prevent hair loss. They are also high in protein and essential amino acids. Their water-absorbing quality helps keep hair hydrated. Sunflower seeds contain vitamin E, a potent antioxidant that protects hair follicles from oxidative stress, as well as selenium, a mineral essential for follicle health. "Often overlooked, they are high in calcium and magnesium, which are essential for strong hair. They also contain lignans and phytosterols, which help balance hormones," says hair expert Ritu Vijayvergiya....
