Mumbai, Feb. 2 -- If you were present on day two of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019, you would have found out most of the answers with regards to sustainable fashion. It was a day dedicated to sustainable clothing and the artisans that help create them. The showcases celebrated traditional Indian textiles, weaves and handlooms in a contemporary setting. Going back to his roots and presenting his collection Bunon (meaning weaving) was fashion designer Soumitra Mondal. His collection comprised creations in khadi, silk and linen. It displayed a contemporary approach to traditional and minimalistic weaves. "For me, sustainable means holding on to our tradition and engaging the new generation to not let handloom die. It's also about working with the existing weavers to present the handloom fabric to global customers," adds Mondal. When you think sustainable, the first thing that comes to mind is recycling. That's exactly what the team of designers - Doodlage, Rossbelle and Door Of Maai presented during the #FashUp by Fashion Revolution show.
