India, Sept. 1 -- C hia seeds may be tiny, but they pack a punch - rich in fibre, protein, omega-3s and antioxidants. One of the easiest ways to consume them is as chia seed water, a wellness trend endorsed by fitness enthusiasts and health experts alike. But timing is key: when you drink it can matter as much as why. "Having chia seeds water first thing in the morning can boost metabolism, rehydrate the body after hours of sleep, and set a healthy tone for the day," says nutritionist Dr Archana Batra. Its high fibre keeps you full longer, curbs mid-morning cravings, and supports smoother digestion and steady energy levels. Drinking chia water before exercise also works as natural fuel. "It helps you power through workouts, keeping energy steady instead of draining," adds Dr Batra. Thanks to protein, fibre and healthy fats, it provides stamina without heaviness. Pre-soaking overnight makes it an easy pre-workout drink. Dr Batra advises against having it late in the evening or just before bed, as the high fibre may cause bloating or disturb sleep. It's also best to avoid right before heavy meals, since it may reduce appetite and affect nutrient absorption. The ideal times: mornings or pre-workout.
