Now, it is easier to add plant-based food in your diet with easily available and affordable alternatives. For Indians, this is also made easier as many plant-based milk options are available, such as almond, soya or oats milk. According to Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, plant-based milks have benefits for the heart and the planet. Dr Alok Chopra, a cardiologist, weighed in on the benefits of various plant-based milks in an Instagram post. According to the doctor, plant-based milks are now fortified with essential nutrients. He wrote, "Plant-based milk is definitely a healthier choice for the planet and for you. It's packed with nutrients, is easy to digest, and is full of so many positives." Plant-based milk options are high in fibre, rich in nutrients, lower in calories, eco-friendly, lactose free, good for heart health, have anti-inflammatory properties, have no hormones or antibiotics, are available in allergen-specific choices and have digestive benefits, says the cardiologist.
