Srilanka, Dec. 26 -- A 21-year-old youth succumbed to injuries at the Kalubowila Hospital on December 22 after being targeted in a shooting in Kohuwala. Hospital sources confirmed the fatality of the victim, who sustained wounds to his right arm and abdomen while traveling in a three-wheeler.

Three pistol shots struck the victim before two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fled the scene. Police previously identified the deceased as a top associate and financial manager for an overseas-based drug trafficker named Avishka.

A rival group led by drug trafficker Badovita Asanka carried out the shooting. Police investigations revealed that an individual known as Sando planned the attack under instructions from Badovita Asanka.
