Sri Lanka, May 29 -- A 29-year-old resident of Balangoda has been arrested by officers from the Haldummulla Police Station yesterday (28), in connection with an online fraud scheme.

The arrest follows a complaint regarding the fraudulent sale of three-wheelers and motorcycles advertised on social media, where victims were instructed to deposit advance payments into bank accounts.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect has defrauded individuals of approximately Rs. 200,000 across various police divisions, including Haldummulla, Samanala Wewa, Kegalle, and Kandy.

Haldummulla Police are conducting further investigations to uncover additional frauds committed by the suspect.
