Sri Lanka, Feb. 2 -- A 13-year-old boy lost his life after a lorry struck two children on the Chilaw-Kurunegala road. Bingiriya Police reported that the incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the Ihala Koswatta area while the vehicle was travelling toward Chilaw.

The lorry hit the two children as they walked along the roadside. Both victims were rushed to the Chilaw Hospital with severe injuries, where one child succumbed to his wounds during treatment.

The deceased resided in the Halmillewa area. The second child remains hospitalised for ongoing medical care.

Authorities from the Bingiriya Police station took the driver of the lorry into custody. Further investigations into the circumstances of the event are currently underway.
