Sri Lanka, March 1 -- Yala National Park has been closed to visitors from today (01 March) until further notice due to adverse weather conditions, park warden Manoj Vidyaratne announced.

Heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused flooding on several roads within the park and led to the collapse of some lake banks, posing safety risks to both wildlife and tourists.

As a result, the Katagamuwa and Palatupana entrances to Yala Zone No. 1 have been shut. Additionally, several roads in the Nimalawa area, which provides access to the park, are reportedly flooded.
