Sri Lanka, May 12 -- Terry Brunk, the hardcore wrestling icon known to millions of fans as Sabu, has died at the age of 60.

The nephew of WWE Hall of Famer The Sheikh, Sabu rose to national prominence in ECW, where he was a trailblazer of extreme wrestling, known for his high-risk manoeuvres involving chairs, tables, and barbed wire.

Some of ECW's most memorable clashes featured Sabu against wrestling legends like Rob Van Dam, Mick Foley, The Sandman, and his fierce rival, Tazz.

In 2006, Sabu joined WWE during its ECW revival, competing in high-profile matches for the World Heavyweight Championship against Rey Mysterio and for the WWE Championship against John Cena.
