Sri Lanka, March 30 -- A 53-year-old woman with 47 arrest warrants issued by 13 courts has been taken into custody, police said.

The woman, who had been living a luxurious life by defrauding people of millions of rupees, was arrested in the Boralugoda area of Avissawella following a police investigation.

More than 50 cases have been filed against her in courts across the country, including Kegalle, Avissawella, Pelmadulla, Angunukolapelessa, Mahara, Colombo, and Galle. Several courts had also issued warrants for her arrest.

According to police, she had swindled money from victims by promising jobs in Japan. It was further revealed that she had rented luxury houses, and then defaulted on payments.
