Sri Lanka, June 15 -- Police report that a woman was shot dead yesterday (14) in the Balagasara area of Medagama.

A police team, dispatched to the scene after receiving the information, rushed the injured woman to the hospital.

However, police confirmed that she succumbed to her injuries by the time of admission.

The suspect, believed to be the woman's husband, has reportedly fled the area.

Police investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out with a locally manufactured firearm.
