Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- A woman who was arrested 11 years ago for engaging in heroin trafficking in the Kalegana area of Galle has been sentenced to life imprisonment today (31) by Galle High Court Judge Purnima Paranawamana, after being found guilty of the charge during a trial held at the Galle High Court.

The woman sentenced to life imprisonment is a 58-year-old resident of the Kalegana area, Galle.

The accused woman was identified as a large-scale heroin trafficker for a long time. Based on information received, officers from the Galle Anti-Corruption Division arrested her on May 9, 2014, with 9 grams and 18 milligrams of heroin, and she was subsequently presented to the Galle Magistrate's Court.
