Sri Lanka, Feb. 26 -- A 67-year-old woman was killed this morning (26) after being hit by a special express train traveling from Colombo to Beliatta near the Kaluwamodara Devalaya road in Aluthgama, police said.

The deceased, identified as Thuiyadura Siriyawathi Nona, was a resident of Kaluwamodara, Aluthgama. She was walking along the railway track near her home when she was struck by the train and succumbed to serious injuries.

The body has been sent to the Nagoda Teaching Hospital in Kalutara for a post-mortem examination.
