Srilanka, Jan. 31 -- The Matara Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a 45-year-old woman in connection with a major foreign employment fraud involving Rs. 10 million.

The arrest took place yesterday (30) in the Wehella area of Dikwella following a comprehensive investigation into a complaint regarding a promised job in the United Kingdom.

According to the CID, the suspect is accused of aiding and abetting a scheme that defrauded a victim by promising a lucrative employment opportunity in the UK.

The investigation was launched after the victim reported a breach of trust and the loss of Rs.10 million in cash.

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Urugamuwa, Wehella.
