Sri Lanka, Feb. 10 -- National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa claims that USAID has funneled money to several politicians in the country, stating that their identities will be revealed in the future.
Speaking at a press conference, he stressed the need for a parliamentary select committee to investigate those who received such funds.
The Trump administration's suspension of USAID activities has sparked global controversy. In the 2023 fiscal year alone, USAID donated $72 billion to various countries, with a recent report detailing its expenditures.
It was revealed that $7.9 million had been allocated for workshops on gender equality in Sri Lanka as part of its projects.
