Srilanka, Nov. 20 -- The budget for the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha for the year 2026 was passed today (20) under the chairmanship of Acting Chairman, Venerable Denagama Rahula Thera.

The Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha is controlled by the Joint Common Opposition. The budget received 23 votes in favour, securing a majority. Councillors from the National People's Power (NPP) abstained from voting.

Accordingly, the inaugural budget of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha was successfully passed by the Joint Common Opposition with a majority of 23 votes.
