Sri Lanka, June 1 -- The Department of Meteorology has stated that the prevailing rain conditions in the southwestern part of the island will gradually decrease from today (1).
However, heavy rains exceeding 50mm are still likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts today.
Moderately strong winds of about 30 to 40 kmph are expected at times in the western slopes of the Central Hills, the Northern, North Central, and North-Western provinces, and the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Currently, 10,270 people across 14 districts remain affected by the adverse weather conditions. The Disaster Management Centre reports 2,710 instances of partial house damage.
