Sri Lanka, April 25 -- Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in these areas.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere of the island after 1.00 p.m.

Fairly heavy falls about 75 mm are likely at some places in Central, and Uva provinces and in Batticaloa, Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts.

The Department noted that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (where winds from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere converge) affects the island's weather.
