Sri Lanka, April 30 -- Many parts of the island may experience showers or thundershowers in the evening or night today (30)due to the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

Showers are expected in the Southern and Western provinces and the Puttalam district during the morning hours, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Heavy rainfall of about 100 mm is likely in some areas, particularly in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern, and North Central provinces.

The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central and Uva provinces during the morning.
