Sri Lanka, July 6 -- The Department of Meteorology announced that several spells of rain can be expected today (6) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers may also occur at a few places in Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

Moderate to strong winds, gusting between 35 and 45 kilometres per hour, are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North Central, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
